The artist from Felanitx, Pere Bennassar Obrador is printing several linocut, etching and collography works at Espai sant Marc workshop. This creator with an extensive artistic career is revising and printing a corpus of work that revisits his most recurrent themes and without shame pays homage to his masters.
«Just as Narcissus was enraptured by the sight of his own figure reflected in the water and ended up drowning, Pere Bennassar portrays himself again and again when he paints a self-portrait in the Olympus of his studio. Este creador con una extensa carrera artística, está revisando y estampando un corpus de obra que revisita sus temas más recurrentes y que homenajea sin pudor a sus maestros.
«Del mismo modo que Narciso quedó extasiado al contemplar su propia figura reflejada en el agua y acabó ahogandose, Pere Bennassar se retrata una y otra vez cuando se autoretrata en el olimpo de su estudio. No se trata de una proclama de ensimismamiento ni de amor enfermizo hacia sí mismo, sino de una ventana a la esperanza, una fe ciega en la pintura – tantas veces muerta o asesinada y tantas otras resucitada – y su convicción en el arte como rio iniciático, como camino, en definitiva, para lograr aprehender aquello que nos envuelve.» Joan Carles Gomis.
