We Chat video performance by Leticia María, was a result of the artistic interventions in the public space «The new modern of Chaos» in Shanghai. WeChat plays in an ironic format about the impossibility of current physical communication that we replace through social networks. It was presented at espai sant Marc in July 2017.
Multidisciplinary artist, interested in the politicized body of the individual as a recipient of these stimuli, thinker, perceiver and channeler that reflects social behavior, in the form of alienation with anesthetizing behaviors before reality. The actions are presented as video performance, a technique that she use as a global result of the staging of the body itself, the image and the space, scenographic or real.
Her work focuses on the representation of stereotypes, symbolism, the use of iconic images and products, the game, and the social role of women, as a way to expose and out of context, this type of generated social behavior for the consumer society.
The intimate and the daily environment and certain social roles are the basis of my work, often mixed with the sense of humor and the absurdity of certain everyday and social scenes that reflect reality as a tragicomedy. Making the small, intimate and concrete a way of positioning and a path to travel towards the distant, the utopia and the ideal. Simplicity, like a silent cry to the void and anachronistic towards the excesses that the consumer society has accustomed us.
Leticia María has a degree in Fine Arts and a she is professor at the ESD High School of Design of Palma, where she currently lives and works. She has studied in different schools in France and Mexico, acquiring in her work a wide range of techniques and visual (sculpture, photography, video), and scenic, (contemporary dance, theater and performance). Leticia has participated in different International Festivals; Water Tower Art Fest Sofia, Bulgaria; International Video Dance Festival of Mallorca; Bang Barcelona International Video Art Festival. art fairs; Art Athina in Athens, Greece; and Supermarket, Stockholm, Sweden. Public Institutions; Cervantes Institute Sofia. International Universities; Akademi Sztuk Loodz, Poland; Tbilisi State Academy Of Art, Georgia; Cdex Université Du Québec À Montréal, Canada. Leticia María es una artista multidisdiplinar Interesada en el cuerpo politizado del individuo como receptor de estos estímulos, pensador, perceptor y canalizador que refleja el comportamiento social, a modo de enajenación con comportamientos anestesiantes ante la realidad. Las acciones se presentan como video performance, técnica que emplea como resultado global de la puesta en escena del propio cuerpo, la imagen y el espacio, escenográfico o real.
Lo íntimo y el entorno cotidiano y ciertos roles sociales son la base de su trabajo, suelen mezclarse escenas con sentido del humor y el absurdo de ciertas escenas cotidianas y sociales que reflejan la realidad a modo de tragicomedia. Haciendo de lo pequeño, íntimo y concreto una manera de posicionarse y un camino a recorrer hacia lo lejano, la utopía y lo ideal. La sencillez, como un grito sordo al vacío y anacrónico hacia los excesos que la sociedad de consumo nos tiene acostumbrados.
Leticia María es licenciada en Bellas Artes y profesora de la Escuela Superior de Diseño de Palma, donde actualmente vive y trabaja. Ha estudiado en diferentes escuelas de Francia y México, adquiriendo en su trabajo una amplia gama de técnicas y lenguajes Plásticos (escultura, fotografía, vídeo), y Corporales, (danza contemporánea, teatro y performance). Ha participado en diferentes Festivales Internacionales como el Water Tower Art Fest, en Sofia, Bulgaria; Festival de Video Danza de Mallorca; Bang Festival Internacional de Video Arte de Barcelona.
