In April 2017, we had an open studio presentation by these two artists, who reside in Provence, at the end of their residency period in espai sant Marc. Françoise Rod presented a 4 meter high installation made with virgin olive oil and Madelein Doré showed three montages of several of his drawings, some of them made during that period of residence.
Françoise Rod works are contextual and site specific. Far away from the production of objects, she work s directly on perception. Her aim is to be awake right now, in the presence of our daily life. She works sharing directly with the perceiving people, participation is therefore essential. Her events are site specific they take in consideration the meaning of the context. She generally choose public spaces in order to be in touch with people from different background.
Born in Switzerland, in 1959, Françoise Rod is living actually in the south of France. She has studied art at Florence academy in Italy and made one year of further studies at the National University of Colombia in Medellin. She has carried on her studies at the University of Paris VIII and obtained a Ph.D. in visual arts in 1993.She used to teach contemporary art practice at the university of Paris VIII, at the University Montpellier III and at the visual Art School of Poitiers. She also gave talks about her artwork in different European arts school, libraries or public spaces. Actually she is curator of ad ognuno la sua p’arte an annual art walk in Italy. She works often in collaboration or among collectives. For example, In 1996 she has co founded in London belt a space in between: a place of meeting to explore uncertain lands, that lies in between. belt exhibited in Temporary Accommodation in the Whitechapel Art Gallery.
En abril de 2017 tuvo lugar la muestra de los trabajos realizados por estas dos artistas que residenden en la Provenza al finalizar su periodo de residencia en espai sant Marc. Françoise Rod presento una instalación de 4 metros de alto realizada con aceite de oliva virgen y Madelein Doré por su parte mostro tres montajes de varios de sus cientos de dibujos, algunos de ellos realizados en dicho periodo de residencia.
Los trabajos de Françoise Rod son contextuales y site specific. Lejos de la producción de objetos, ella trabaja directamente en la percepción. Su primordial objetivo es despertar en cada momento de nuestro día a día. Por esta razón la participación es esencial. Ella generalmente escoje espacios públicos para estar en contacto con diferente tipo de sensibilidades.
Artista suizo-francesa, tiene un doctorado en ciencias estéticas y tecnologías de las artes de la Universidad de París VIII. Su trabajo consiste en compartir experiencias sobre la percepción en un contexto dado. En última instancia, desarrolla visiones interiores que cruzan las fronteras entre la experiencia mística, íntima y estética.

Madeleine Doré is a Quebec Multidisciplinary artist. She developed a practice of mobility. Itinerant artist, she initiated the movement “bonheur d’occasion“, this attitude it has been the origin of numerous interventions of relational and nomadic art. She developes mobility artworks, creates autoeditions, nomad performances based on exchange and communication. She obtained several grants from Quevec Art Council to develop her work, and ususally she is invited by artist run spaces in Quebec. She has curated sites specific events and she is also writing for art reviews.
Madeleine Doré es una artista multidisciplinar de Quebec. Ella desarrolla su práctica artistica desde el concepto de la movilidad. Artista itinerante que fundó el movimiento “bonheur d’occasion” esta actitud dio origen a numerosas intervenciones de arte relacional y nómada. Desarrolla un arte de movilidad, crea autoediciónes, múltiples así como producciones de imágenes relacionadas con un contexto específico. Obtuvo varias becas del Consejo de Arte de Quebec para desarrollar su trabajo, y habitualmente es invitada por espacios dirigidos por artistas en Quebec. Ella ha sido curadora de proyectos site specific y también escribe reseñas de arte.

These two artists founded Tadlachance in 2002 (which means ‘you are lucky’) is an art association dedicated to nomad, relational and contextual art practice. Based in Cuges les Pins near Marseilles, France. The association has developed activities as those relating to the hospitality and opportunities provided for ‘nomad’ artists en route through France or is dedicated to special, one-off, nomad projects. tadlachance creates one-off installations, interventions, and multi-cultural art events in public spaces, facilitates research, and brings people together from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds to talk and debate important life themes. We have worked in France, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, Turkey, Bulgaria, Korea and England.
Estas dos artistas fundarón en 2002 Tadlechance (que significa eres afortunado) es una asociación dedicada al arte nómada, relacional y contextual. Ubicada en la localidad de Cuges les Pins cerca de la ciudad de Marsella, Francia. Tiene como objectivo permitir a los artistas realizar residencias cortas, trabajando en relación con la gente, y el entorno. Esta actividad supone un intercambio de artistas entre espacios de residencia, pues Tadlechance ya albergo el pasado mes de marzo a los artistas Maria Isabel Uribe y Fabián Schalekamp que residen y trabajan en Costitx, Mallorca.
