Intimitats, four videos screening presentation made by the artist Wai Kit Lam, took place on December 10th, 2016. The more of her work deals about human condition and identity, it is not surprising that she appears in many of her works. This time she presented four videos which address issues such as identity, distance, morality and privacy. Two of them were filmed in Mallorca, where she has spent long periods the last two years.
Wai Kit Lam born in Hong Kong in 1966. Master of Fine Arts, The Chinese University of Hong Kong 2001 – 2003. BA (Hons) in Fine Art, Goldsmiths, University of London, United Kingdom 1993 – 1996. She works video, photo, sound and text. Her main research topic is the construction of identity and the interrelation between individuals and their circumstances.
She has received several awards for her work, such as the Second award Certamen d’arts plastiques de Felanitx (2017), Residence grant for non-residents at Centre d’Art i Creació de Ses Voltes (2016), the Foundation grant Valparaíso Mojácar (2011); the grant Artists in the Neighbourhood Scheme IV & Visual Artist-in-Residence Programmes from Hong Kong Arts Development Council (2009); the 8th Hong Kong Independent Short Film and Video Awards (IFVA), (2003); the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Biennial Award (2009 and 1998). Artist in residence at Centre d’Art i Creació de Ses Voltes, Palma de Mallorca (2016); Lichtenberg Studios in Berlin (2014); Casa Monsaraz residency Portugal (2012), Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder in Trondheim, Norway (2012); la Foundation Valparaíso, Mojácar (2011); Takt Kunstprojektraum Artist Residency in Berlin (2009); Artist meeting Trafficjam #4 Centre d’Art i Creació de Ses Voltes, Palma de Mallorca & Can Gelabert, Binissalem (2015). Some of her works are in collections as The Hong Kong Heritage Museum; and private collections in Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, Italy, Canada, United States, Australia and Hong Kong.
Intimitats, la proyección de cuatro videos de la artista Wai Kit Lam tuvo lugar el día 10 de Diciembre de 2016. Gran parte de su obra versa sobre condición humana y la identidad, no es extraño que ella misma aparezca en muchos de sus trabajos. En esta ocasion nos presenta cuatro videos que abordan cuestiones como la identidad, la distancia, la moral y sobre todo la intimidad. Dos de ellos fueron realizados en Mallorca, donde ha pasado largas temporadas los dos últimos años.
Wai Kit Lam nació en Hong Kong en 1966. Se ha formado y graduado en Bellas Artes en las prestigiosas The Chinese University of Hong Kong donde hizo el Master en 2003 y en Goldsmiths University of London donde obtuvo la licenciatura en 1996. Su práctica incluye fotografía, videoarte, texto y sonido. Su tema principal de investigación es la construcción de la identidad y la interrelación entre los individuos y sus circunstancias.
